Description
This lovely old farm house saw a large family raised during the American Depression of the 1930s. Good times and bad. Although it no longer stands on the farm in West Tennessee, the memories of laughter and tears there live on in the lives of many today.

Thank you, Lois, for your very kind words! This painting was "pieced" together from various old photos, most of which were from the 1940s! I did it for my mom who cried when she saw it many years ago. She passed away last month, at the tender age of 92. So I smile when I see this painting knowing that it brought some joy to her. Thanks again.

What a gift your artistic talents are, Susan ... what a joy and comfort that you were able to resurrect this most welcoming of memories and bring it to life for yourself and your loved ones ... as well as for all of us!!! f/v

Thank you, Barbara. I was fairly young when it burned. My grandparents had died some years before that. But I have faded memories. How the rooms looked inside. The kitchen on back of house. The super-narrow, twisting staircase!

The old home place and all out buildings were built by my maternal grandfather and his sons and farm hands. They grew to be a big family and descendents work the farm to this day. Although this wonderful home burned down about 1973, I still remember the lay of the rooms, the steeply spiraled stairsteps and all the stories my mama told about her life there from 1920 until after she married in the '40s. My grandmother, Mama, and the older daughters cooked not just for the family, but also for all the hands. Mother told me they would make over 100 biscuits for one meal!
